EHS Foundation Mission Statement
Recognizing that the school needed support beyond that which could be provided by the school district, a group of EHS supporters, parents, alumni, and faculty met in 1990, with the sole purpose of providing assistance to the school which had given so much to the community throughout the years. That meeting marked the beginning of The Edgewater High School Foundation, Inc. Although tax-supported, the public schools still need your help to ensure high quality programs. This help is especially needed because of Florida's rapid growth. To keep pace with new technology and educational trends, EHS needs additional funds for equipment, facilities and staff development opportunities for the faculty. A strong foundation will ensure that Edgewater High School will continue to be recognized as one of the top high schools in the state of Florida. How The Foundation Can Help EHS The Foundation provides assistance to EHS in many ways: • Program Development • Scholarships • Academic Programs • Computers • Computer-related materials • Audiovisual materials • Field trips • Equipment for exceptional education students • Supplemental instructional materials • Extra-Curricular Activities • Drama and stage equipment • Debate team supplies • Life skills equipment • Athletics • Athletic equipment • Athletic facilities • Staff Development • Facility Capital Improvement • Teacher Wish Lists • How You Can Help The Foundation's Board of Directors has set ambitious financial goals to help EHS meet many immediate educational needs and has created the Foundation Endowment for long-range support. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated almost $500,000 to the school for a variety of projects. The Foundation has funded such projects as the stadium locker room, two computer labs, banners for the gymnasium, a girls' softball locker room, funding for needy students to take the SAT and ACT, project pride days and much more. The Foundation Board has created the EHS Endowment. The Endowment is designed to provide long-range support to the school by investing funds, accruing interest and leaving the principal intact. Endowment gifts can be named for an individual or group with a gift of $5000 or more. For example, the Charles Rohrer Endowment was created to honor the former principal[al of Edgewater High School. The Foundation will continue to provide this type of support and it needs your financial support. To achieve goals, the board is soliciting contributions to the Foundation. The Edgewater Foundation is recognized as a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. Donors will be recognized annually with a display in the front lobby of the school.
